Short Description:
My Role This Week:

I’m one of the Press Officers at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. This week I’m looking after local media requests, helping arrange interviews for our broadcast partners and producing reports from the tournament.

This week, my OGIO bags and I have arrived in Dubai for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. I started my season in Dubai earlier this year for another tournament in January but this week we will crown a new European Number One and Race to Dubai champion. It is the 47th and final event on our International Schedule, with our team of Press Officer’s travelling 141,000 miles this year.

The leading available 50 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings Presented with Rolex compete at Jumeirah Golf Estates this week. Bernd Wiesberger is the man in pole position and should he either win or finish second alone, he will be crowned Race to Dubai champion. The Austrian holds a 722 point advantage over Tommy Fleetwood, the champion in South Africa last Sunday, meanwhile Spaniard Jon Rahm, Champion Golfer of the Year Shane Lowry and Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick can also win the coveted title of Europe’s Number One on Sunday.

With his closest rivals needing to either win or finish second to stand any chance of overhauling him, Wiesberger could also benefit from strong performances from those outside the top five on the Race to Dubai, including World Number Two Rory McIlroy, who has twice won the DP World Tour Championship alongside four other top ten finishes in his nine appearances.

The EDGA Dubai Finale is being staged on Friday and Saturday this week with six players from the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD) qualifying and two wildcard invitations set to take on the same course setup and same tees as the professionals ahead of the final Rolex Series event at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The European Tour offers golfers with disability the opportunity to play competitive tournaments at our highest profile events and to ultimately promote the inclusive nature of our game to our global audience.

South African Erik van Rooyen defeated former Masters Champion Danny Willett to win the final Hero Challenge of 2019 in Dubai. It was Van Rooyen’s debut in the European Tour’s innovative shootout which was played under lights in front of the spectacular Atlantis, The Palm, in Dubai where the Tour’s leading players are gathered for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
